MEW: Security Biggest Challenge Against Development Projects

Ministry of Energy and Water, (MoEW) has called security problems the biggest challenge against development projects; citing projects worth $ 1 billion have been stalled or faced challenges.

Officials in MoEW emphasize that the security institutions and Afghan people should make further efforts to provide the security of these projects.

They also noted that power projects that include several diversion dams, power plants and power transmission is coupled with challenges.

“The $ 1 billion project has been stalled due to the security problems,” said Abdul Basir Azimi, spokesman of MoWE.

Meanwhile, a number of officials in Chamber of Commerce and Industry considered the implementation of power projects essential for growth of industries.

“The government should try harder for the completion of projects,” said Etbar Khan Zadran, member of Chamber of Commerce.

This comes as that the National Unity Government leaders have announced over the creation of several power dams and power production projects; but economic analysts stress on providing security for the implementation of projects.
