Afghanistan ministry of interior announced Friday that more than 29 rebels were killed in several operations around Afghanistan.

According to ministry of interior press release, national army and national security forces cooperated in military operations that were carried out the Kabul, Sare Pul, Kandahar, Zabul, Urozgan, Herat, Farah and Helmand.

The interior ministry noted that the operations in several part of the country carried out for providing security and wiping out rebels.

The present situation in Afghanistan is quite problematic. The country has very little in the way of existing infrastructure, and no real prospects for economic growth aside from the illegal drug trade. The central government’s power is limited to Kabul, and it is almost entirely dependent on US-led forces for security.

Afghanistan is in a terrible situation as the Taliban remains strong, and the fact ex-warlords are in the new government of the country is not much better.
