National assembly to approve population registration act: MoJ
Officials in Ministry of Justice have stated that they will soon send the population registration act for the Afghanistan parliament for further approval, saying Afghan, and Nationality words has been adjusted and added into the sixth article of the following act.
Meanwhile dozens civil society activists have criticized the Government for controlling the Afghan National Identity Card process and not let the following National process to be started.
Ministry of Justice Spokesman Aman Riazat said,” the following act has been sent to Afghanistan cabinet, after the confirmation and adjustment it will be sent to Afghanistan parliament for further approval.”
Head of the Electronic National Identity cards Homayon Muhtat said,” this is a National project, the National agreement is vital, any delays will cause problems, we are fully ready to begin issuing electronic National cards.”
Female civil society activist Masouma Mohammadi said,” Issuing electronic National Identity cards process stopped, it’s important for Afghans to have access to their basic rights, we demand the Government to approve the Electronic National Identity Cards process.”
Disputable words like Afghans and Nationality in Electronic National Identity cards had provoked arguments among Nation for the past several months, this has caused the process to be halted for a while.
