Selective Committee Should Begin Activities: Ghani Ordered

The President Deputy Spokesman Shah Hussien Murtazavi said President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani during a decree has tasked the selective Election committee to begin activities for further selection of the new Election commissioners.

He has urged that after the introduction of the new Election commission’s members the Election calendar will also be announced which will determine day of holding Elections in the country.

Further he mentioned that part of the financial upcoming Election will be maintained by the Government of Afghanistan and the rest will be paid by the International Organizations.

President Deputy Spokesman Shah Hussien Murtazavi said,” President has ordered the selective committee to begin working as soon as possible, and disseminate letters to the designated offices to introduce their new representatives, after the introduction the Election calendar will be announced.”

Further he mentioned that ensuring security for the Election polls will be the duty of the Afghanistan Interior Affairs.

President by endorsing the Election law has determined the Election polls power and the controversial issue of single-seat constituencies meanwhile the second deputy of the chief executive Mohammad Muhaqiq has declared the new decree of the President over the election reformation suitable and an act to build the selective committee.

He said,” The decree which can be released by the President would be paving the way holding Election and selecting new commissioners for the Election commissions.”

Meanwhile members at the Independent Election Commission has declared the 3 released decree of the President on launching Election reformation were useless, stating that the plot single-seated would more help fraudulent within the Election and provoke more disputes among the tribes.

The Independent Election Commission Commissioner Azizullah Bakhatyari said,” the following plot wouldn’t help the Election transparency but it would provoke more problems within the Election process, meaning that disputes would be increased among tribes unprecedentedly and even we will witness war which wasn’t experienced in the past 10 years.”

Based on the Election law approved on 2004 each province is counted as one poll station, and each poll station would introduce from 2 up to 33 representatives to lower house where one of them would female, but based on the single- seated plot 34 provinces of Afghanistan would change into 250 constituencies where each station would introduce 1 single representative to the lower house.
