Afghanistan recorded 21 WPV1 cases in 2025, while Pakistan recorded 31, bringing the regional total to 52 cases last year.

Muttaqi reiterated his support for polio eradication initiatives and highlighted the need to establish advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment centres.
The three-day campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 12.6 million children under the age of five, according to the ministry.
