2 civilians killed, dozens injured in Helmand blast

At least two people including a woman killed and 15 other civilians injured after a suicide bomber detonated a car full of explosives, official said.

Nabi Jan Mullahkhail, provincial police chief confirmed the attack saying a group of militants attempted to perform group attack over Helmand police HQ, two attackers killed by police following a suicide bomber detonating a car bomb.

But provincial governor spokesman, Omar Zwak has said, two civilians killed and 51 people including two police members were injured in a suicide car bomb blast in Helmand province.

Reports suggest that explosion was so powerful which destroyed houses near the blast.

Helmand is among the volatile provinces where anti-government militant groups are actively operating in a number of its districts.
