5th district of Pul-e Khomri under Taliban’s rule

The Afghan Taliban govern the 5th district of Pul-e Khomri city, 10 Km away from governor’s office and Baghlan’s Police Headquarters.

People claim that most of local resident’s disputes are resolved in Taliban councils and even send arrest warrant to the people.

Nasrat Parsa, Ariananews reporter says in his report that there is only one mountain distance between Taliban’s government and National Unity government.

This comes as while Taliban are ruling in Dand Ghori that previously security sources have assured people that from now on no armed opposition will emerge in the area.

The Taliban and the Haqqani Network, a subgroup that is closely tied to al Qaeda and Pakistan’s military and Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate, are thought to control districts in the eastern provinces of Ghazni, Zabul, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Kunar, and Badakhshan.

The Taliban ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001. They came to power during Afghanistan’s long civil war.

Although they managed to hold 90% of the country’s territory, their policies—including their treatment of women and support of terrorists—ostracized them from the world community.
