Afghan-Britain Sign £7 Million MoU of Demining

A £ 7 Million Pound of memorandum of understanding was signed between Britain and Afghan Government on cleaning the 9, 600,00 square meter of lands in 6 provinces of Afghanistan where mines and other explosive materials planted.

Concerns are still in rise that mines, improvised explosive device (IED) are threatening the life of residents of 1600 villages and 259 districts in Afghanistan, where 145 Afghans are losing their life on daily basis due to mine explosions.

The Afghanistan State Minister for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs Wais Barmak stated that only 40 percent of the allocated budget to clean mines from Afghanistan was given for providing services.

He said, “ Since June 2016 145 Afghans are losing their life due to mine explosions on daily basis across the country where 58 percent is coming from mine explosions and improvised explosive device (IED), demanding the International community to provide more financial support for Afghanistan to be free of mines in the future.”

Britain Ambassador to Afghanistan Dominic Jeremy said, “ Its privileges to United Kingdom to work with all the organization present here today, in reaching goals, and it’s with great pleasure that we partner Minister with the Afghanistan National disaster management agency and with directorate of mine action coordination to ensure that this De-mining work benefits the Afghans who have too long lived with brutality of explosives, I implore everybody as all to work together where there are mines we must plant vines, and pomegranate trees, tomorrow of Afghanistan must be free of mines, I m proud that United Kingdom is working with you in order to ensure that we take step closer to that admirable goals.”

Afghan Government has promised to free Afghanistan out of mines by coming 2023, the State Minister for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs Wais Barmak declared mines plantation huge challenge against growing economy in Afghanistan where most of the residents are being fed by doing Agriculture throughout the country.
