Afghan farmers criticize gov’t for not supporting agriculture sector

Afghan farmers have criticized Government of Afghanistan for not supporting Agriculture sector, complaining lack of sufficient water, fertilizer, seized lands and no clod storage and no proper markets for their products.

Meanwhile officials in Ministry of Agriculture and live stocks have mentioned that a plan is underway to improve the Afghanistan’s Agriculture.

Farmer Mohammad Naiem said,” We do not have sufficient water, fertilizer and cold storage.”

Officials in Ministry of commerce and Industry have confirmed the Agriculture issue saying exporting domestic goods and production increased.

Deputy of chamber of commerce and industry Khan Jan Alkozai said,” the exporting graph has increased comparing to last year.”

Minister Agriculture and live stock Asadullah Zameer said,” there has been no clear policy for improving the Agriculture sector in Afghanistan, efforts are underway to strengthen good coordination in between the center and provinces to provide more facilities for farmers to access good markets and pave the way for other investors to use the opportunities based on the National action plan.”

Experts believed that growing Agriculture sector in Afghanistan could be a good alternative for boosting economy and accessing infrastructure.
