An Afghan guard has gunned down his Nepalese colleague and wounded another at a United Nations compound in Kabul on Friday, a security official said.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Afghanistan (UNAMA) said one of its staff members at the compound was also injured in the incident, but the injuries are described as not serious.

Hassib Sediqi, a spokesman for Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, said the violence happened at a construction site that is part of the UN compound.

It was not immediately clear if the attack was planned or it was the result of a disagreement, but UNAMA statement said the circumstances around the incident are still being investigated.
