Afghan women security situation considers alarming
Afghan women network findings indicate that after the transform of security responsibility from US led coalition to Afghan troops, the security situation for Afghan women is threatening.
A survey by Afghan women network in 14 districts and 13 provinces of the country shows that security situation for Afghan women become threatening after withdrawal of foreign troops.
According to the institution, the national unity government is still not a strong support for women in the country, therefor the presence of women in the society has faded.
Hussneya Safi, head of Afghan women network said, “Our survey shows that Afghan women suffer from insecurity that is still a serious threat for them.”
Ahmad Shahir Anil, CEO of Afghanistan “In majority of our surveys, the security situation of women is deteriorating, especially in the last four months.”
Earlier, amnesty international said that Afghan government failed to protect Afghan women activists who are working to improve the human rights situation in their country.
The Amnesty International in a report called for Afghan authorities to address the number of attacks on women’s rights activists in Afghanistan.
Amnesty’s report also urged the Afghan government to ensure that all allegations of threats or attacks against women rights activists are fully and impartially investigated and perpetrators held to account.
