Afghanistan seeks to join full membership of SCO

The ministry of foreign affairs said that Afghanistan is seeking to join the full membership of Shanghay’s multilateral security, economic and cultural cooperation organization.

Ahmad Shekib Mustaghni, spokesman of foreign ministry said that President Ghani will travel to Russia on July 9th to participate in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Mustaghani declared that is said to consider efforts on joining the full membership of SCO the important agenda of President Ghani’s trip to Russia.

The foreign ministry has also announced about holding RECCA VI – Kabul 2015 The Sixth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan.

Building on the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA) series initiated in 2005 – and held in Kabul, New Delhi, Islamabad, Istanbul, and Dushanbe – RECCA-VI, to be convened on 3-4 September 2015 in Kabul.

Preceding the high-level Ministerial Meeting on 4 September, an Academic Forum and a Regional Business Forum, held on 3 September will engage scholars and business representatives from across the region and beyond around critical regional economic cooperation themes, including in the areas of trade & transport, energy & resource corridors, streamlining customs & border crossings, and attracting investment & technical know-how from the private sector.

RECCA VI will be held under the name of “Silk Road” by Afghanistan leadership.
