Afghanistan Still in World Drug List First Position: SIGAR
Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction SIGAR has declared that US Government combats Narcotic drug cultivation in Afghanistan with hesitation.
John Sapko has written a report to US congress that Washington has spent 8 $ billion during past 13 years in Afghanistan to fight against the cultivation of narcotic drugs in Afghanistan, but Afghanistan is still on the first potion in world producing opium.
SIGAR in its quarterly report has quoted that US Government doesn’t fight against increasing of poppy and its cultivation in Afghanistan as it was done in the past, US Government has spent billions of dollars to eradicate drugs from Afghanistan but the Afghanistan is still in the first position of world producing drugs, limiting Opium and decreasing its consumption is so difficult in Afghanistan because China has changed itself as the big consumer of the drugs produced by Afghans which impacted Afghans to increase its drugs activities.
Though Mr. John has said that the former US Ambassador to Afghanistan on February that new policy is underway, and will be finalized in coming six months but fighting to eradicate opium from Afghanistan is launched based on the 2012 policy in Afghanistan.
The report has also been mentioned that by withdrawing of the International forces from Afghanistan and fragile security condition in some parts of Afghanistan there are few sources with limit possibility to fight drugs.
Based on the SIGAR report the US defense Ministry report which was published four months ago indicated the stable security condition in Afghanistan stating that the direct international aids to Afghan police forces combating narcotic will be decreased on 2016.
This comes after that narcotic drug is still a big challenge for Afghan Government and a tool for insecurity in this country.
