Afghanistan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit called on Chinese Prime Minister for cooperation in Peace Talks process.

CEO says that China with its regional influence can play an effective role in Peace negotiations process of Afghanistan.

“We thank China for its cooperation to Afghan government and its people. China’s cooperation in development and political sectors is valuable and we expect further cooperation from China in Peace process,” said CEO, Abdullah Abdullah.

Abdullah Abdullah has arrived in China for Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit opened on Monday in Zhengzhou City of Henan province.

Government leaders from six member states and other guest countries are scheduled to convene for the 14th SCO prime ministers’ meeting to be held in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province.

In the meantime, Chinese Prime Minister has also declared that providing peace in Afghanistan is in interest of all regional countries.

Since 2002, China has been supporting the new government in Kabul both financially and politically. China is one of the biggest foreign investors in Afghanistan.

At the other site, Pakistani Prime Minister in a separate meeting with Chinese PM said that Pakistan supports peace in Afghanistan.

“I proposed a mechanism steering committee between Pakistan, US, Afghanistan and China which will supervise Peace process and reconciliation in Afghanistan and coordinate efforts regarding the issue,” said Pakistani PM.

Many in Afghanistan accuse Pakistan of being host to Taliban bases that are used to plan attacks such as the bombings over the weekend. Pakistan, which faces its own Taliban insurgency, denies that it has actively allowed its territory to be used in this way.
