China ‘working to promote peace and reconstruction’ in Afghanistan
China’s ministry of foreign affairs said Beijing is working with Central Asian countries to leverage coordination between Afghanistan’s neighbors, and jointly promote peace and reconstruction in Afghanistan.
“It is important to safeguard peace in the region. China is ready to help Central Asian countries strengthen capacity building on law enforcement, security and defense, support their independent efforts to safeguard regional security and fight terrorism, and work with them to promote cyber-security,” a statement issued by the ministry said.
China meanwhile has good relations with the Islamic Emirate and political and economic relations between Kabul and Beijing continue to strengthen, the IEA said.
Therefore, IEA welcomes any action that can help Afghanistan achieve economic self-sufficiency, officials said.
“We believe that not only China, but also all the neighboring countries, the region and the international community should look for ways to strengthen the same situation that exists in Afghanistan and remove restrictions in terms of economy and trade,” said Bilal Karimi, IEA’s deputy spokesman.
“Afghanistan’s commercial and banking restrictions should be removed, the frozen assets of the Afghan people should be released, and official relations should be established so that this strength takes its roots in general,” he added.
A number of experts also said that China wanted to play a bigger role in solving global issues because if stability is not ensured in the countries around China, this country cannot be a powerful country on one side of the world’s political equations.
Chinese officials have repeatedly said that they respect Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and will never interfere in the country’s internal affairs.
China however has not yet officially recognized the IEA.
