Afghanistan Ministry of Defense (MoD) called on the ministry of communication and technology to prevent propagandas and recruitment of soldiers by terrorist groups, especially Daesh through social Medias.

However, the ministry of communication and technology claims that it is not their duty and is the responsibility of the ministry of information and culture.

Deputy spokesman of the defense ministry considers war campaigns of terrorists more dangerous than military war.

As far as Islamist terrorists fighting in Iraq and Syria are concerned, to have a “Snowden-approved” security system on their mobile phones and personal computers is to possess the ultimate in internet accessories.

As a result, groups that use the internet for their own sinister purposes have changed the way they communicate so as to evade detection by western security agencies. Aided by the increased use of encryption software by the leading internet service providers, terrorist groups such as the Daesh (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) have found that, simply by adding freely available security programmes and apps to their devices, they can conceal their activities from prying eyes.

In the meantime, US foreign secretary also said that Taliban fighters in Afghanistan are being tempted to the group because of Daesh’s sophisticated social media campaign.

US State Department officials have repeatedly said that “countermessaging” the Daesh is one of the pillars of the strategy to defeat the group. But Obama administration officials have acknowledged in the past that the group is far more nimble in spreading its message than the United States is in blunting it

Daesh has resorted to killing anyone it deems an opponent as it tries to create a sustainable caliphate in territory it holds in Iraq and neighboring Syria and now in Afghanistan.
