Dustom to battle Taliban with 10,000 troops in Jawzjan
Afghanistan First-vice president, Gen. Abdul Rashid Dustom on the forefront of war left for Jawzjan with 10,000 soldiers to launch operations in Ghosh Tapa district of the province.
Gen. Abdul Rashid Dustom says that he will take the revenge of all Afghan beheaded troops from the Taliban group.
Wearing military uniform, the vice president emphasized that he has not wore uniform for demagoguery; citing “I will free my country with this uniform or I will make it a shroud for myself.”
“Going forward in the battle is a term of my nature and I ashamed of retreating,” said Gen. Dustom, Second vice president.
He called on Afghan soldiers to moderate with Taliban prisoners. However, a number of soldiers claimed that they won’t retreat until they do not suppress the enemies from the district.
Meanwhile, Jawzjan governor, Lutfullah Azizi says that the province security situation has deteriorated recently, so they have decided to launch a widespread operation under leadership of Gen. Dustom.
Dostum, a former warlord from Sheberghan, the capital of the northwestern province of Jowzjan, rose to prominence as a pro-Soviet commander fighting the Afghan mujahideen in the 1980s.
Previously, he has been fighting the Taliban in his northern stronghold.
Afghan authorities say Taliban insurgents have linked up with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan to strengthen their campaign across the previously peaceful province.
In March 2015, Afghanistan’s intelligence agency said it had foiled a previous attempt to assassinate Gen Dostum in the northerly Jawzjan province.
