Ex-Afghan governor kidnapped in Islamabad

Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi, the former governor for western Herat province of Afghanistan, was kidnapped by unidentified men on Friday in Islamabad city of Pakistan.

According to the reports Wahidi was going to a restaurant with his grandson when the men abducted him.

Sources in embassy of Afghanistan in Islamabad and security officials have confirmed that Mr. Wahidi was in Islamabad with his family members to apply for a British visa.

Afghan embassy in Pakistan says a case has been recorded with the Pakistan’s police against kidnapping of the former Afghan governor and the case is being investigated.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the abduction.

Wahidi has served as the governor of eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan during the area of the Former President Hamid Karzia and was appointed as the acting-governor of Herat at the initial days of the President Ghani’s governance.
