Former Interim President Sibghatullah Mojaddedi Passed Away at the Age 93
Former Interim President and Jihadi leader Sibghatullah Mojaddedi have died at the aged 93 on Monday, his family confirmed to Ariana News.
Mojaddadi’s funeral is arranged for Wednesday and after prayers, he will be led to rest at Asheqan and Arefan in the capital Kabul.
Sibghatullah Mojaddedi was born in 1925 in Kabul. He formed the National Liberation Front in Pakistan and thereafter, he begun the political and armed campaign against the People’s Democratic Party, which was a pro-Russian party in Afghanistan.
He served as acting president in 1992, following the victory of Mujahideen against Soviet forces as Dr. Najibullah’s government felt down.
After the collapse of the Taliban in 2001, Mojaddedi returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and became chairman of the Upper House of Parliament.
