Gardiz-Khost highway inaugurated

The asphalting work of Gardiz- Khost highway has been completed on Tuesday and inaugurated, said minister of public works.
The newly built highway is one hundred and one kilometer long and nearly $ 232 million have been spent in its construction.
The cost of Gardiz- Khost highway construction has been funded by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The construction of this highway was started 9 years ago that the minister of public work considers its completion a great achievement.
“This highway has a high economic value because it connects to Ghulam Khan port and we are committed to protect this highway,” said Muhmud Baligh, minister of public works.
In recent years, one of the main demands of Khost inhabitants was the completion of this project which now they express satisfaction over its implementation.
Infrastructure is one of the key factors for economic development. Improved infrastructure encourages trade, labor and capital mobility, investment across the economy and better security.
