Germans agree that Mission in Afghanistan “not worthwhile”: Survey
Majority of the Germans do not believe that the 13 years of mission in Afghanistan has paid off all their objectives according to survey launched; only one in five from the troops thought sending forces was right.
60 % of the Germens who have been questioned said their 13-year mission in Afghanistan had not been worth it. according to the survey launched by the You Gov.
NATO, ISAF flags have been lowered at some military bases, including the combat command center at the capital Afghanistan.
Answering the more general question of whether Germany should get involved in combat missions abroad, about 51 percent said it should not. Only 31 percent expressed satisfactory on deployments, according to the poll commissioned by the German news agency dpa.
The NATO-led military alliance to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year, although some 13,000 soldiers mostly from the US will remain to help train and advise Afghan security forces.
The number of German forces to stay in Afghanistan is about 850 to do training duties.
Germans have lost 55 soldiers during war in Afghanistan since the beginning of their mission.
This comes after that Afghan security forces still in need of heavy machinery to defend the country.
