Ghani arrives in Ashgabat to inaugurate TAPI Gas Pipeline Project

On Saturday morning, President Ashraf Ghani left Kabul for a two-day visit to Ashgabat to inaugurate TAPI Gas Pipeline Project.

President Ghani is heading a delegation of high ranking governmental officials including Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammad Hamayoun Qayomi, Senior Advisor to the President, Mohammad Hamayoun Rasa, Minister of Commerce, Asadullah Zameer, Minister Agriculture & Livestock, Mohammad Shakir Kargar, Advisor to the President in Middle Asian Affairs and Herat and Faryab governors.

Afghan leader is scheduled to visit Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan and will deliver a speech at the Impartial Policy, International Cooperation in the Field of Peace, Security & Development Conference in Turkmenistan.

The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline (TAPI) Project aims to export up to 33 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas per year through a proposed approximately 1,800-kilometer (km) pipeline from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
