Ghani strongly condemns Friday blast in Kabul

President Ashraf Ghani has strongly condemned the suicide bombing early Friday in Capital, Kabul that left 20 dead and more than 400 others injured.

According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, President Ghani has arrived in Afghanistan after his successful leg surgery.

President Ashraf Ghani in another statement said that the attack apparently targeting civilians shows insurgents in Afghanistan are desperate.

“By carrying out terrorist and suicide attacks against innocent civilians, the enemies and killers of Afghans will lead a shameful life in this world and face the wrath of God Almighty in the hereafter.” The statement said.

He also visited victims of Kabul suicide attack in Kabul’s hospital and offered his condolences to their families.

The truck bomb attack happened near a government complex and a military base in the neighbourhood of Shah Shaheed area of Kabul city and it’s not clear whether they were the actual targets.

A huge truck bomb tore through central Kabul early Friday, killed twenty and wounded more than 400 others in the first major attack in the Afghan capital since the announcement of Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s death.
