The Islamic Emirate has said it will not allow any military activity along Afghanistan’s border with Tajikistan, following reports of an armed incident in the area.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said recent movements along the border had been brought under control and stressed that no serious military confrontation or major security threat exists between the two countries.

He acknowledged that smugglers have long operated and moved across the border but said there were no significant security concerns beyond such activities.

Mujahid also assured Tajikistan that Afghan territory would not be allowed to be used against the neighboring country.

His comments came after Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security reported that two Afghan nationals were killed in a border clash. Tajik authorities said the individuals had entered the country illegally and were allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
