Influential Figures Leave The Islamic Party

Prominent members of the Islamic Party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar left the party and are trying to form a new political organization.
Islamic Party officials confirmed that important members Farooq Wardak, Jomaa Khan Hamdard, Amin Waqad, Wahidullah Sabawoon, and others, are no longer members of the Islamic Party.
The former members stated that they intend to form a new political process because of the involvement in the election.
These changes to the membership of the Islamic Party come as Hekmatyar was nominated for the presidential election by the Islamic Party, but his nomination failed to receive support from a group of prominent party officials.
