Three killed in Herat IED explosion

At least three people were killed and six others wounded in an explosion in western Herat province on Wednesday night, police confirmed.

Abdul Ahad Walizada, a spokesman for the provincial police said in a statement that the incident took place at about 7.20pm on Wednesday evening in an area between PD9 and PD12 of Herat city.

He said a magnetic improvised explosive device (IED) had been attached to a vehicle.

Walizada said that all the victims were civilians, adding that they were taken to the provincial hospital.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Meanwhile, Walizada said that police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile in Laghman, an IED was detonated in the Sultan Baba area of Mehtarlam, the capital of the province. Seven civilians were wounded in this incident. 

Asadullah Dawlatzai, a spokesperson for the provincial governor told Ariana News that an explosive-laden motorbike was detonated in the area.
