MoD accuses ISI of backing armed oppositions in Afghanistan
Afghanistan Ministry of National Defense (MoD) says that Pakistan Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) is likely supporting and leading the armed oppositions of the government.
MoD accuses ISI of interfering in Afghanistan’s affairs and uses the oppositions against the Afghan government.
Education and training commander of the defense ministry, Mahmand Katwazai in graduation ceremony of 1300 soldiers from Military Training Center in Kabul has noted that Afghanistan is facing two kinds of enemies; the International Terrorism and Pakistan’s ISI.
Katwazai has assured that Afghan security forces have a complete preparations in fighting against the armed Taliban group and Al-Qaeda.
He considered the continuation of military assistances by the donor countries to Afghanistan very positive and effective and called for further assistances.
The Afghan government has long accused its neighbour’s intelligence service of supporting insurgents with money, arms, advice and safe havens. Islamabad says the accusations are groundless and it has no control over areas that were ceded long ago to groups fighting their own state.
Pakistan has historically supported the Taliban, and many Afghans accuse it of continuing to nurture sanctuaries on its soil in the hope of maintaining influence in Afghanistan.
