MRRD inked $140 million rural development contract

Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) signed a contract of rural development which worth $140 million with rural development councils.

According to the officials statements they will implement these projects within six months.

Rural Rehabilitation and Development minister, Nasir Durani said,” we will struggle to support enough agricultural projects in order to provide job opportunities for people”.

These projects will be founded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan.

After the contract executed, rural development projects will be launched in Balkh, Baghlan, Samangan, Kunar, Badakhshan and Laghman provinces.

As floods hugely affected agricultural lands and livestock this year, the rural development minister pledges plans to reconstruct the affected formers.

“Recent rainfalls destroyed about nine hundred projects in the country, we have discussed these issues with Asian Development Bank and they have promised to fund about $54 million on this section,” Durani stated.

In addition, the minister vows to eliminate corruption on his administration and emphasized on meritocracy.
