The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday announced that acting minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has been invited to visit Qatar.
The invitation was extended by Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi, Minister of State for the Foreign Affairs of Qatar, who met Muttaqi in Kabul.
In the meeting, the Qatari official considered the conditions of the Islamic Emirate for participation in the third Doha meeting as reasonable, adding that everyone believes that without the presence of the Islamic Emirate, the meeting will be fruitless, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, Muttaqi, while clarifying the position of the Islamic Emirate, expressed his satisfaction regarding the inclusion of the issues of climate change, private sector and drugs in the upcoming Doha meeting.
He appreciated Qatar’s stance on the Palestinian issue and urged its help in creation of job opportunities for Afghan workers and in releasing the frozen assets of Da Afghanistan Bank.
Based on the statement, the Qatari official called Afghanistan his second home and assured of his country’s cooperation in the economic, political, health, infrastructure projects and banking sector.
He added that Qatar wants to build a 400-bed hospital in Kandahar province.
Qatar’s invitation to Muttaqi comes as the third Doha meeting on Afghanistan is scheduled to be held on June 30.
