NAI condemns violence against correspondents

Officials in Nai supporting open media in Afghanistan have condemned the violence carried out against the correspondents, reporters, cameramen of different media outlets during the demonstration held in Kabul on Monday where demonstrators demanding the 500 mega watt power pylons come from Bamyan and Wardak provinces.

Nai officials have stated that according to National and International laws no one can have the rights to carry out violence or beat the media workers in Afghanistan.

During the Monday demonstration several correspondents, reporters and cameramen were beaten by the demonstrators in Kabul city.

Noorin private Tv station correspondents Farid Halimi said,” there were about 50 of the aggressive demonstrators who have knocked down my cameraman and began to beat him, I went to understand the situation they have also attacked me and beat me.”

“ I saw were surrounded by hundred protestors, suddenly my cameraman was attacked then was beaten 1 private Tv station correspondent Umad Rustayee said,”

Head of Nai supporting open media in Afghanistan Abdul Mujeebkhalvatgar said,” aggressive demonstrators have questioned their basic rights by carrying out violence against correspondents on Monday demonstration.”

Media workers have been suffering from violence since 13 years in the country some of them have lost their life due to terrorist attacks, some got killed by terrorists and some are being beaten within the eye public.
