Over 250 prisoners in Herat released on the occasion of Eid

A total of 252 prisoners have been released based on the amnesty decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, local officials said on Monday.
Mohammad Nabi Khalil, general administrator of Herat prison, said that 39 women and 13 children are among those released.
Also, 17 people have got their jail term reduced.
It is said that the released people had been mostly imprisoned for committing minor crimes.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court said on Monday that 2,855 prisoners were released across the country on the occasion of Eid. 1,420 others have got their jail term reduced.
