Wolesi Jirga announced its support for the agreement between the two presidential contenders on creation of a government of national unity.

Some of the parliament members said that political agreements in election process is contrary to the constitutions and undermines democracy.

Second secretary of Wolesi Jirga, Orfanullah Orfan said, “Without a doubt, we want to move toward stability and a government of national unity but the political agreements undermines the votes of Afghan people.”

A number of members in Parliament also urged the two candidates to be united in their commitments in creation of a national unity government.

The formation of a government of national unity between the two candidates came as the U.S. Secretary of State opened talks in Afghanistan aimed at preventing the fragile country from collapsing into political chaos after disputed elections.
