Second round of Afghan-Taliban Peace talks up to next 2 weeks: Ghani
President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani who arrived in southeastern Khost province days after a suicide car bombing killed 33 people said that the second round of peace talks with Taliban will be held up to the next two weeks.
Ghani noted about government’s efforts for peace and declared that the next round of talks with Taliban will be held in the next 15 days.
President stressed that the government attends the second round of talks with a strong position and will never begging any country regarding the process.
According to him, Afghan people have the right to live in a peaceful environment.
Afghan government officials last week met Taliban representatives in negotiations brokered by Pakistan.
The Taliban have stepped up attacks on Afghan security forces.
Pakistan last week hosted the first formal face-to-face negotiations between Taliban representatives and the Afghan government.
This comes as that Taliban supreme leader, Mullah Omar released an Eid message on Wednesday in which he legitimates peace talks and insists on the unification of Jahadi groups.
