Afghan security forces launch a huge operation under the name of “Shahin” in Kunduz province, deputy of chief of staff said.

Gen. Murad Ali Murad, deputy of chief of staff said all of military facilities will be used to defeat the enemies in this operation.

“We will use any equipment to defeat the armed oppositions and assure Kunduz residents we will rescue them. They should not concern of anything. Afghan forces are with them,” Murad Ali Murad said.

In the meantime, Kunduz governor stated that Quetta Council are leading the war in Kunduz.

At the other side, The U.S. military has sent fighter jets to Afghanistan’s northern province of Kunduz, where Taliban insurgents have launched a major offensive and overrun government checkpoints close to the main city.

Officials this week said hundreds of Taliban militants had attacked police and army checkposts in the province, the insurgents’ last stronghold before U.S.-led forces drove them from power in 2001.

The coalition combat mission in Afghanistan ended last year, and only a small contingent of around 1,800 U.S. counter-terrorism troops are still involved in combat operations.

This comes as Kunduz governor announces the defeat of Taliban, saying Taliban are retreating from Kunduz province.
