Afghanistan became an SCO observer in 2012, but its observer status was suspended following the Islamic Emirate’s return to power in August 2021.
Dar also noted that discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing regional security, with special emphasis on Afghanistan’s role in the broader stability of the region.
While the meeting was exclusively for full member states, observer nations—including Afghanistan and Mongolia—did not participate, a source told Ariana News.
