Eight Afghan soldiers were killed and five others wounded after U.S. forces bombed an Afghan army outpost in Logar province on Monday morning, provincial officials said.

Dawoud Ahmadi, provincial police chief says two US air force choppers bombed an Afghan National Army outpost in Cheltan area of Baraki Barak district early this morning around 6:00 am.

He added, there were 14 soldiers in the security post, but there is no exact information about causalities.

Reportedly a U.S. military official has confirmed the incident saying “we are aware of an incident involving U.S. forces in Logar province this morning.”

‘The incident is under investigation,” he added.

On March 2014 a similar U.S. airstrike killed 5 ANA soldiers and wounded eight more, in the Charkh district of Logar province, in eastern Afghanistan.
