8 dead, 48 injured in Helmand traffic accident

8 people were killed and 48 others were injured in a horrific traffic accident in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, a local official said on Monday.

According to the local officials, the incident took place after a 303 type passenger bus overturned in Dalkhak area of Washir district of Helmand province.

The 303 bus overturned due to having a very high speed is owned by Saday Bahar Transportation Company and was travelling from Nirmruz to Kandahar province, the source said.

The local authorities added that at least 7 passengers was killed and 28 others were injured while Lashkargah provincial emergency hospital officials claim that they have received 8 dead and 48 others sustained injured as a result of the incident.

Most of the road accidents occur in Afghanistan is due to the bad conditions of the roads and reckless driving.
