Reportedly Afghanistan has decided not to attend at the 19th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit which is scheduled to take place in November in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

According to sources Afghanistan has communicated its inability to attend to the upcoming SAARC Summit, saying,” Due to increased level of violence and fighting as a result of imposed terrorism on Afghanistan, the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani with his responsibilities as the Commander in Chief will be fully engaged, and will not be able to attend the Summit”.

Earlier, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan had also expressed their inability to participate in the meet.

The SAARC Summit cannot take place even if one of the eight members withdraws.

It seems the withdrawal of Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan is a part of India’s new efforts to isolate Pakistan in the region for harboring terrorists in its soil.
