The first shipment of animal feed has been dispatched to Tajikistan from Afghanistan, Balkh’s Department of Industry and Commerce officials confirmed Tuesday.

Amir Mohammad Muttaqi, head of industry and commerce for Balkh, said that more than 1,000 tons of animal feed will be exported from Balkh to Tajikistan this year.

The first shipment weighed 25 tons and was received by Tajikistan after a quality assurance test was carried out.

Officials from the processing company that exported the feed said they are hoping to also export fodder to other countries.

Officials from the company, which is a private enterprise, said they process animal feed as well as oil, fish and chicken.
