Agreement On Unity government Signed
Both the Presidential candidates, Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, have signed the proposed agreement to form a joint government of national unity.
The historic event that took place Sunday around 12pm noon was attended by the outgoing President Hamid Karzai, cabinet members, former Jihadi leaders and civil society activists.
Ruling over Afghanistan for more than a decade, President Hamid Karzai welcomed the agreement and congratulated the nation the conclusion of longest electoral process which took almost half a year.
President Karzai during his speech assured of utmost integrity and honesty in collaborating with the new government.
Electoral team members of candidates have declared all the differences have been cleared including the controversial issue of post of chief executive. However the content of the agreement is yet to be released.
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) is also expected to announce today (Sunday) evening the final result of election runoff.
Based on the agreement between the candidates, the election winner will be declared the President of Afghanistan while the runner contender will serve the post of chief executive of Afghanistan.
