CE of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah says, transparent and fair election guarantees survival of Afghanistan.

Reforms in Afghanistan electoral systems is one of the main articles on the National Unity Government (NUG) power-sharing agreement.

After Afghanistan’s 2014 disputed presidential elections both President Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah formed a NUG which was mediated by the U.S. Secretary of States, John Kerry and UNAMA office in Afghanistan.

More than six months have passed since the new government has been formed, but they are still incapable to form a commission for electoral reforms being promised earlier on the agreement.

Now Mr. Abdullah is emphasizing on reforms in electoral laws and says that formation of the commission is seriously required. He said,” Afghanistan stability and durability is related to electoral reforms, electoral reforms commission will be formed and the electoral laws will be adjusted as required”.

On the other hand domestic electoral observer’s who have observed Afghanistan 2014 Presidential elections with thousands of National observers across the country says that people have lost their trust on the government commitments for reforms due to delays on the formation of the mentioned commission.

Jandad Spinghar, Chairman of Election Watch of Afghanistan (EWA) in an interview with Ariana News said,” Delays in formation of the electoral reforms commission distrusted people on the government commitments; any postponement in the upcoming parliamentary elections violates Afghanistan laws”.

Recently President Ghani who was speaking on the inauguration of Afghanistan National Assembly 5th session emphasized that he will issue a decree soon in order to form electoral commission for short, mid and long term reforms.
