Construction contract for Nanagahar’s canal signed

A contract was signed on Tuesday between ministry of agriculture and an Afghan company for the construction of Nangahar canal.

According to officials in ministry of agriculture, the project costs $ 16 million which will irrigated more than 30 thousand hectares of land.

Nangahar’s governor, Ataullah Lodin said that they will provide the security of this project.

Asian development Bank has pledged $ 25 million for this project which the project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

“30 thousand hectares of land will be irrigated with the end of first section of this project.” Lodin added.

Lodin emphasized on creating a committee for monitoring and security of this project.

Nangahar canal has a length of 80 kilometers which starts from Jalalabad city and passes eleven districts.
