Explosion kills 35, injures at least 100 in eastern Jalalabad City

Successive suicide blasts took place in eastern Jalalabad City of Nangarhar province on Saturday morning which killed 35 and injured around 100, the city’s officials said.

The first explosion occurred in front of a branch of New Kabul Bank in the City where governmental employees especially Afghan Security Forces are collecting their salaries.

Preliminary reports suggest second and third successive explosions near to the Directorate of Information & Culture with no causalities.

Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqee said,” Emergency situation enforced within the Hospitals in Nanagarhar Province.”

Taliban so-called spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid condemns involvement in both blasts in a tweet.

Hours later another IED was exploded in Behsoud district of Nengarhar province which killed one people and injured another two.

Provincial spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai confirms the blast in Behsoud district saying the explosion took place in Tamirat area of Behsoud district as a result of a magnetic bomb.

Final reports  from the Ministry of Interior Affairs indicated that 37 civilians were killed and more than 105 others were inured during the successive blasts in Nangarhar Province.

No one yet to claim the responsibility of  the attacks.
