First death anniversary of Marshal Fahim commemorated in Kabul

The first death anniversary of Marshal Muhammad Qasim Fahim commemorated Monday in presence of President Ghani and a number of high ranking officials in Kabul.

President Ghani noted in the death anniversary that Marshal Fahim played an effective role in creating national unity system and defending the country.

Ghani is said to consider Marshal Fahim was a politician man and had a special position among Afghan people.

“Marshal passed away in 56 years old age. He had a special character in politics and most of his life spent in defending the country and supporting the nation.” Ghani said.

Meanwhile, the chief of executive Abdullah Abdullah praised Marshal’s performances against the Ex-Soviet and Taliban regime and said to consider his death a big loss for the country.

“Marshal had always proud of himself to be a Mujahid and always tried to make Afghan people united. He always wished peace for Afghanistan and did much effort in this regard.” Abdullah said.

Marshal’s son, Adib Fahim was also said to consider his father’s death an interminable compensation loss for the country.

At the same time Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayaf, former Jihadi leader said, “Marshal was a great Jihadi and had a strength character. His name is recorded on the defense of Afghanistan.”

 

Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim the son of Maulavi Abdul Matin was born in Omerz village of Panjshir in 1957.

He had finished his studies in Islamic Sharia at an Arabic institute (Drul-ulom-e-Arbia Kabul) in 1970.

He is said to have fled Afghanistan after the Communist coup of 1978, and sought refuge in the neighboring Pakistan. One year later, he returned home and began starting jihad in border Kunar province’s Shigal area.

He became National Hero-Ahmad Shah Masood’s deputy in military affairs in Panjshir and the commander of the Mujahideen in Andarab district of northern Baghlan province.

In 1981, Mohammad Qasim Fahim led a high-delegation of Mujahidin to some northeastern Badakhshan, Baghlan, Takhar and Kundoz provinces to besiege mujahidin within Shuray-e-Nazzar and paly effective role in this field.

He was an important political figure of the country over the past three decades and had served in different capacities including minister for security, minister for defense and vice president. Marshal Fahim breathed his last at the age of 56 due to heart attack on Sunday March 9th.
