India’s top security advisor to discuss Afghanistan with Russian officials in Moscow
India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for talks with top Russian officials including over the situation in Afghanistan.
On Afghanistan, the sides will particularly focus on Russia’s recent recognition of the Islamic Emirate, Indian media reported.
Last month, Russia said it had accepted the credentials of a new ambassador of Afghanistan, making it the first nation to recognise the Islamic Emirate government of the country.
Doval is visiting Moscow amid India-US spat over trade.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order subjecting Indian imports to an additional 25% duties on top of an existing 25% tariff, due to its big purchases of Russian oil.
