U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday said that Pakistan should fight against militant groups that threaten Afghanistan and India’s interests.
He noted that US is set to step up its security and intelligence efforts as the Pakistani government moves against militants in its restive northwest.
“I emphasised that the US is committed to deepening our security relationship with Pakistan in order to eliminate threats in the border area and elsewhere,” the US secretary of state told reporters.
“Terror groups like the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban, the Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba and other groups continue to pose a threat to Pakistan, to its neighbours and to the United States,” Kerry added.
Kerry stressed his statements on a visit to Pakistan for the victims of last month’s massacre of children at a Pakistani school.
Earlier, Pakistani authorities have repeatedly announced their war against terrorism but their commitments remained without any result.
