Kabul, Tehran emphasis on joint efforts to tackle extremism challenge in Region

Jawad Zarif, foreigner minister of Iran has traveled to Afghanistanon Tuesday morning to negotiate with their Afghan partners regarding Afghanistan – Iran strategic agreement, commercial and transit cooperation between the two nations.

He emphasized on mutual cooperation against terrorism and extremism on his visit with Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of Afghan government.

Mr. Jawad said,” Terrorism and extremism has threatened the region and recently the whole world, negligence to respect our regional religious believes has extended the extremism and it is required to find joint solution for these issues”.

He criticized NATO existence on the other part of his speeches stating,” foreigner forces existence in Afghanistan did not help to stabilize the regions, we have too much concerns about these forces being in Afghanistan and has shared our concerns with Afghan leaders and has received their confidence in this regard too”.

Furthermore, Abdullah Abdullah also expressed his concerns about Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) extension in the region.

Abdullah said,” Currently our region faces with huge challenges; ISIL is a worldwide challenge and requires joint operations to tackle these issues together”.

These statements comes after concerns raised regarding ISIL existence in collusion with Taliban groups in Afghanistan border provinces and finalization of U.S. Bilateral Security (BSA) and NATO Status of Forces (NSOF) Agreements between Kabul and Washington.
