Many Govt. Departments Failed To Utilize Uplift Funds: MoF

The Ministry of Finance has said in a report that most of the ministries and other government departments have failed to utilize more than 50 percent of their development budget.

All those departments that failed to utilize their development funds were accountable to the people of Afghanistan, finance ministry officials said.

“The ministries are accountable that why they couldn’t use their development budget,” said Abdul Qadir Jailani, spokesman of Ministry of Finance.

Below percentages are indicating consumption of development budget by the following ministries:

• House of Representatives: 0 %
• Office of State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs: 1%
• Ministry of Interior Affairs: 2%
• Ministry of Defense: 19%
• Ministry of Higher Education: 27%
• Ministry of Public Works: 30%
• Ministry of Water and Energy: 31%
• Ministry of Mines: 32%
• Ministry of Education: 34%
• Ministry of Finance:38%
• Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology: 41%
• Ministry of Irrigation, Agriculture and Livestock: 46%
• Ministry of Foreign Affairs: 49%
• Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development:54%
