MoD Announces Great Preparation for Spring Offensive

Amnyat 6-3-2017-DARI-SOT.mpg_snapshot_00.27_[2017.03.06_16.34.48]Afghanistan Ministry of Defense (MoD) says great preparations have been taken for the spring offensive and currently more than nine operations are ongoing in eight insecure provinces of Afghanistan.

MoD declares that the aim of launching such operations are to clear and wiping out insure areas from terrorists.

“Currently, nine operations are ongoing in eight insecure provinces and all insecure areas including crossing places, places of educations and areas working for terrorist groups,” said Muhammad Radmanish, deputy spokesman of MoD.

Now, According to statistics, Helmand, Farah, Zabul, Kunduz, Sar-e Pul, Baghlan, Nangarhar and Faryab are considered the insecure provinces of Afghanistan.

In Helmand: Khan Neshin, Baghran, Deshew, Nawzad, Sangin and Garmser are the insecure districts.

In Zabul: Arghandab, Mizan, Khak-e Safid and Nawbahar are the insecure districts.

In Farah: Gulestan, Bakwa, Khak-e Safid are the insecure districts.

In Kandahar: Ghorak, Khak Rez, Shawli Koot, Meyanshin, Maiwand, Shorabak, Arghestan, Regestan and Maroof are the insecure districts.

In Sar-e Pul: Sayad and Kohestanat are the insecure districts.

In Baghlan: Dahan-e Ghori, Barka, Central Baghlan, Tala O Barfak, Andrab, Pul Hesar, Deh Salah, Doshi and Dand-e Shahbuddin are the insecure areas.

In Kunduz: Emam Saheb, Chahar Dara, Khan Abad, Dasht-e Archi, Ali Abad, Qalaye Zal are the insecure districts.

In Nangarhar: Achin, Rodat, Bati Koot, Shirzad, Pacherogam, Ghani Khail, Hesarak, Haska Mina, Chaparha, Goshta, Khogyani, Lal Poor, Mahmand Dara, Nazyan and Spin Ghar districts are insecure.

In Laghman: Dawlat Shah, Alishing, Alingar are the insecure districts.

In Faryab: Almar, Ghaysar, Pashtoon Koot, Khawaja Sabz Posh, Shren Takab and Dawlat Abad are the insecure districts.

Meanwhile, military analysts are said to consider the upcoming year a difficult one in terms of security.

“There is no decision and management in the government. The first one is insecurity and the second one is the intervention of outsiders. We have failed in our plan in the current winter and it seems that we will have a difficult season ahead,” said Atiqullah Amar Khail, military analyst.

This comes as that war reduced by the arrival of winter in the past but the current year Afghanistan witnessed an intensified war compared to the previous years.

Emergency meeting held in Kabul to address flood victims in Baghlan

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations (MoRR) held Saturday an emergency meeting in Kabul attended by the humanitarian aid coordinator of the International Organization for Migration to instantly address the needs of recent flood victims in Baghlan province.

The ministry quoted Abdul Rahman Rahmani, head of the assistance coordination of the ministry, as saying that the goal of the meeting was to provide emergency assistance to flood victims and how to consider first aid.

According to reports, intense floods in Baghlan’s many districts have left hundreds of dead and injured.

The ministry stated that hundreds of houses have been destroyed and people are living in open space in the mountains.

Meanwhile, the ministry added that the figures are not yet final and the process of rescue operations is still ongoing with the cooperation of health teams.

At the meeting, Mohammad Omar Hashemi, the humanitarian aid coordinator of the International Organization for Migration, also assured that the organization is ready to provide urgent aid to the victims.

WFP says it can only support 1 in every 3 malnourished children across Afghanistan

The World Food Programme (WFP) said on Friday it can only support one in every three malnourished children across Afghanistan, highlighting the shortage of funding.

WFP said on X that there are three million malnourished children in Afghanistan.

“But we can only support 1 in every 3 malnourished children across Afghanistan,” WFP said. “Children bear the brunt of the assistance cuts. Sustained funding is vital.”

The World Food Program in Afghanistan had previously warned that the number of malnourished children visiting hospitals has increased this year following the reduction of foreign aid.

More than 23 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan this year, according to the United Nations. Over half of them are children.

In February, WFP announced a dire need for $760 million in food assistance for Afghanistan over the next six months.
