MoD opens garrison in Kabul
Afghanistan Ministry of Defense (MoD) opened a garrison in Kabul to provide better security and deter terrorist activities on Monday.
The acting defense minister is said to consider forming a garrison in the current situation effective and stressed that Afghan security forces play their responsibilities to defend the country and people.
Muhammad MasoonIstanikzai, the acting defense minister said they are strongly committed to support Afghan security forces in any way to fight against the armed oppositions of the government.
“Afghan security forces have legitimate and legal right to seriously defend the country and we expect people, political leaders and other to cooperate with security forces to provide security,” Istankzai noted.
The increase of security threats in most of the provinces especially the capital has forced security officials in the presidency to form a garrison in Kabul that more coordinationarise between the security institutions.
In the meantime, the general commander of Kabul’s garrison promised to not hesitate any effort to provide better security for the capital.
“The formation of a garrison for Afghan security forces to combat against terrorist threats is an important step and the three security organs have the responsibility to act as their commitments,” Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahman, commander of Kabul’s garrison said.
Simultaneously with formation of Kabul garrison, security officials emphasized that people’s trust and support for Afghan forces led troops to gain more morale and motivation in fight against terrorism.
